The benefit of GARE membership is access to an unparalleled peer network of 13,000+ racial equity practitioners working in local, regional and state government in over 400+ member jurisdictions. GARE staff curate events and peer-to-peer learning opportunities. The GARE Online Community, and exclusive GARE member tools and resources like the GARE Learning Center, Racial Equity InSight and more are available to current members. GARE recommends taking government focused trainings from Race Forward, the GARE network's anchor organization. GARE practitioners have access to discounted registration rates for Race Forward’s Racial Equity Training Series, which you can read more about here. If you are interested in a more customized training opportunity for your staff, please complete this intake form and someone from Race Forward’s Training Strategies team will follow up on your request. 

Additionally, all racial equity practitioners in GARE member jurisdictions can access self-paced learning courses, Advancing Racial Equity in GovernmentThe GARE Approach; and Overview of the Racial Equity Toolkit (forthcoming, Spring 2024) and recorded programs in the GARE Learning Center. Racial equity practitioners in GARE member jurisdictions can access these resources by logging into the GARE Online Community.

GARE membership fees are calculated based on the total number of employees and the membership type. GARE offers 3 types of membership: Core, State/Regional Agency, and Associate. For a full description of GARE’s pricing structure, please visit our membership page.

GARE membership is for local, regional and state government jurisdictions/agencies. All racial equity practitioners within member jurisdictions may participate in GARE. There is no GARE membership available to individuals. 

The GARE Online Community is the best place for employees from active GARE member jurisdictions to connect with the GARE network and stay informed about in-network programs and opportunities.

To Register: Complete the form here, selecting the ‘GARE Network Racial Equity Practitioner’ category and the ‘GARE Online Community’ as the site you’d like to access. If your employer is not included in the list of jurisdictions, please contact us at gare@raceforward.org to confirm your jurisdiction’s GARE membership.

The GARE Online Community is available to employees of GARE member jurisdictions/agencies who are actively engaged in racial equity work in their government roles. This includes those participating in racial equity core or departmental teams and those who are developing and/or implementing racial equity tools.

If your employer is not included in the list of jurisdictions, please contact us at gare@raceforward.org to confirm your jurisdiction’s GARE membership. 

You must register with a government email address that has been identified as an authorized email domain for a current GARE member jurisdiction/agency. Requests are approved by GARE staff within 3 business days, at which point you will receive an approval notification via email.
